Former Hospital COO Accepts New Position

April 22, 2005 - Dari Caldwell, former Chief Operating Officer for NorthEast Medical Center, has accepted a position as director of quality for Cabarrus Family Medicine.

“I’m very excited,” Caldwell said. “This is a great group of physicians and I’ve known these folks for a long time.“

Caldwell resigned from her job at NorthEast Medical in February and will begin her new position on a part-time basis starting Tuesday.

“We’re excited to have Dari, with her many years of experience in the healthcare field and community, to work with us to improve our patient care at Cabarrus Family Medicine,” said Allen Dobson, president and CEO of Cabarrus Family Medicine.

Cabarrus Family Medicine is a rapidly growing family health care center that has seven locations in Cabarrus and Stanly Counties.

With 40 physicians and 200 staff members, a residency program and interests in other clinics such as Psychological and Behavioral Health and the Sports Medicine and Injury Center, Cabarrus Family Medicine will be able to use Caldwell’s expertise.

Caldwell will also begin work with Community Care of North Carolina, a statewide organization that Dobson is already involved with.

Community Care is the state’s voluntary managed care effort to improve quality and help control Medicaid costs.

“(Caldwell’s) leadership and knowledge will be a tremendous asset as we work to improve systems of care for poorest citizens in North Carolina,” Dobson said.

Carol Lovin, vice president of marketing and strategic planning at NorthEast Medical Center, said Caldwell has an excellent background for such a role and will bring a lot to the practice.

“We knew she would find something soon,” Lovin said. “She’s a very talented individual and she’s very dedicated to this area and this community.“

Lovin said Caldwell’s previous employment at the hospital would not create a conflict of interest.

“I don’t anticipate any issues,” she said. “The senior team has not expressed any concerns or objections.“

Caldwell said her former duties at NorthEast would help her in her job. “It set good ground work,” she said.

Caldwell said she will begin working part-time and may become a full-time employee at a later date.
