Erica Greene Carter, M.D., graduated cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Biology. She was on the Dean’s list four years, and also received the Outstanding Service Award for her service at the VCU Campus Learning Center. Erica was active in the community and volunteered as a medical clinic assistant at Fan Free Clinic for three years and as an inpatient volunteer at Children’s Hospital of Richmond for two years. She also assisted with the construction of three different homes with Habitat for Humanity during her Alternative Spring Break Program.
Erica continued her education at VCU School of Medicine where she is a recipient of the Aesculapian Scholarship. While at VCU SOM she served as student member on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians; the Education Series Coordinator for the student National Medical Association and Planning Committee Coordinator for an HIV/AIDS Patient education Seminar in Richmond, VA.
Erica continued her community service during medical school by serving as a medical volunteer for the Remote Area Medical clinic in rural south-west Virginia; tutoring elementary school children with the Church Hill Activities and Tutoring program and working on several community services projects with the Inner-City, Rural Program and Student National Medical Association.
