Cabarrus Family Medicine Manager Receives National Certification

June 8, 2007- Christy Hatley, CMM, office manager at Cabarrus Family Medicine – Poplar Tent Family Physicians and the Sports Medicine and Injury Center, has successfully passed the national Certification Examination for Certified Medical Manager (CMM) administered in Huntersville, North Carolina on May 19, 2007. Christy joins 693 Certified Medical Managers throughout the country and becomes one of only 34 in the State of North Carolina.

The Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM) administers the examination to test the knowledge and skills of office managers of small group and solo physician practices throughout the nation. The comprehensive three-hour examination evaluates the candidate’s knowledge of eighteen subject areas that include managed care, practice accounting, third party reimbursement, heath care law, risk management, and a host of other topics that are necessary to run an effective physician office practice. The mixture of multiple choice and essay questions challenges candidates to be creative in resolving conflicting demands in today’s increasingly complex physician practice environment.

PAHCOM is a national association with headquarters located in Pensacola, Florida. Membership consists of health care office workers in small group practices within medical, dental, osteopathic, and allied science professions. The primary focus in on ambulatory care practices. Cabarrus Family Medicine, PA is a unique multi-clinic group that provides comprehensive family healthcare while maintaining a personal, small-office atmosphere. CFM was founded in 1983 as Mt.
